About DecryptMorse

DecryptMorse is a free online Morse code translator and learning hub built for one simple purpose: to help anyone read, write, and understand Morse code without frustration. Type a message and watch it turn into dots and dashes instantly — or work the other way and turn Morse back into plain words. Everything happens right here on the site, in your browser, with nothing to download and no account to create.

Alongside the translator, you will find a Morse code audio decoder that turns beeps and tones into readable text, plus a growing library of plain-language guides, charts, and practice resources. Whether you have thirty seconds to decode a curious signal or thirty days to properly learn the code, DecryptMorse meets you where you are.

Our Story

Morse code has been carrying messages for more than 180 years. It crossed continents by telegraph wire, guided ships through fog, and gave pilots and radio operators a language that works when almost nothing else does. Even now, it stays alive in aviation beacons, emergency signaling, assistive communication, and amateur radio — and it keeps winning new fans among students, scouts, and the simply curious.

The problem was never the code itself. Morse is beautifully logical: a handful of short and long signals, arranged in patterns anyone can learn. The problem was that most explanations made it feel harder than it is — dense tables, dry manuals, and tools that assumed you already knew what you were doing. DecryptMorse exists to fix that. We built the translator and guides we wished had existed when we first met dots and dashes: fast, accurate, friendly, and explained the way a good teacher would explain them — step by step, with examples you can hear, see, and try yourself.

What You Can Do Here

Translate instantly. The Morse code translator on our homepage converts text to Morse and Morse to text as you type, with audio playback, light flashes, and adjustable speed and pitch so you can practice by ear, eye, or touch.

Decode real audio. Heard a recording full of beeps and want to know what it says? The audio decoder listens to Morse tones and rebuilds the message for you — ideal for checking practice sessions or decoding signals you come across online.

Learn the code properly. Our step-by-step guide to learning Morse code takes you from your first letters to copying full words, while the Morse code timing guide explains the rhythm behind the signals — how long a dash lasts, how gaps separate letters and words, and why spacing matters as much as the beeps.

Keep references handy. The Morse code alphabet gives you every letter’s pattern in one place, the numbers guide covers digits 0–9 with memory tricks, and our printable Morse code chart puts letters and punctuation on a single page you can save or print. And if you only learn one signal, make it SOS — the universal distress call our guide teaches you to send by sound, light, or tapping.

What Makes Us Special

Accuracy you can trust. Every conversion follows the official International Morse code patterns for letters, numbers, and punctuation, with correct spacing between characters and words — so what you copy from here is what a real operator would send.

Learning by doing. Morse is a skill of the ear as much as the eye. That is why our tools play your message aloud, flash it as light, and even let you slow it down or loop it. You do not just read about the code here; you hear it, see it, and build real muscle memory.

Guides written for beginners. No jargon walls, no skipped steps. Each guide starts from zero, introduces a few patterns at a time, and shows you how to practice in short daily sessions that actually stick.

Free, open, and private by design. DecryptMorse is completely free — no sign-up, no paywall, nothing to install. Your translations run right in your browser, so the messages you convert stay on your own device rather than being sent off to an account you had to create first.
